ok now that I found my wallet, had a beignet and some jambalaya and found a space in the production office I am ready to roll. The cast, with the exception of Sly, arrives in NoLa over the next few days. Next Friday we have all the boys on one set -Sly, Jason, jet, randy, Dolph,Terry and Mickey – should be pretty cool Mickey works for 2 days. Arnold will shoot his scene in LA on a date TBD. We start shooting on Monday at the Louisiana Film Studios in Harahan – pretty impressive I must say. And while many of our locations are practical (in and around NoLa’s central business district) we have several days of stage work as well. Yesterday Sly was on Canal Street where he took possession of his newest baby – a 2006 tricked out to the max Ford Mustang GT convertible. Sweeet is an understatement. Some of the folks passing by were shocked when they realized it was Sly standing there admiring his new wheels. Pretty cool. I spoke to WWL a local radio station and told them how excited we are to be here in the Big Easy…and we are. Other than that I am counting the hours til Monday. Hopefully by then I can release the name of the actor playing Church. Off to a production meeting then I gotta see Star Trek tonight!!! oh BTW…Terry Crews character name has reverted to the original – Hale Cesear…bye bye Jazz Gumbo. And Jet Li’s character name is not Ping Pong…whew.

come on ethelmae. spill it. girl to girl. how can a fan get a glimpse of this movie being made? i am such a fan and already called the studio. they dont give any info. i am planning on heading that direction to see what i can see. any tips?

Shaping up to be a great shooting.
We really need that actor’s name who plays Church so people can stop guessing who it’s going to be. I mean it is going beyond ridiculous.
So far one of these names have been called as “certain”: Kurt Russel (already turned down, but hey, who knows…), Bruce Willis (possible because he’s a Stallone’s friend and I believe a co-owner of one of Planet Hollywood -restaurants with Sly), John Travolta (this I don’t understand at all), Tom Cruise (likewise), Michel Biehn (possible and would be very nice since he hasn’t been in anything I recall since T2) and Dwayne Johnson (this might be the one. I mean he fits in nicely).
But I guess we have to wait until we have anything official.

Keep up the great reporting for us fans. Do us, the fans, a big favor: Can you whisper in Sly’s ear that the masses DO NOT want to see ARNOLD play either himself of a politician. What we do want is to see SCHWARZENEGGER play a fellow expendable who is all action hero like Sly’s character and who can return for the inevitable sequel. Can you do that?

Hi Sly, can’t wait until this film makes over 300 million worldwide and gives you a huge mega blockbuster. I will agree with the guy that said Arnold should play someone who holds guns or wears military uniforms. Even if it’s a cameo role, it should be iconic. But no Arnie playing himself. The fans all agree on that!

Let me be clear. I am 41 years old. Many fans like myself will be seeing EXPENDABLES in theaters just for the cheer fact that both Arnold and Sly are in this film TOGETHER. I know people want to also see Sly paired with Jet and Jason, but the real selling factor is the two original action heroes being in the same film.

Sly has yet to film Arnold’s scenes and is accomodating him by filming in L.A. I think Sly should have Arnold in at least three seperate scenes.

How many days did ARNOLD shoot AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS? I hope that was 1 day because that’s a lot of Arnold for a cameo. I hope Arnie carries huge guns, smokes a stoggie and blows stuff up in his scene(s)! Stallone and Schwarzenegger must have a cool as hell scene together like HEAT did for Pacino & DeNiro.
Tom Cruise’s role of Len Grossman in TROPIC THUNDER was billed as a “cameo” all the time up until the release of the film. That role was no cameo but more like a supporting role! If Arnie’s role is to be “gritty, scarred, brutalized”, then that can’t be just a walk on or brief cameo.

You do realise that if Church is played by anyone even slightly less cool than Kurt Russell or one of the Bruces (Willis or Campbell) this is going to a major letdown… you may have over-hyped this! 😉
On another note, I agree that Arnold has to play someone other than himself or a politician. We want the door left open for him to have a significant role in the action in a sequel when he comes back to acting!
And speaking of sequels, lets get Clint Eastwood in the next one!
